Be Cool: Sequel to Get Shorty delivers laughs

John Travolta comes back as Chili Palmer in the movie Be Cool, a sequel to the movie Get Shorty, which was released in 1995. In Get Shorty, Chili Palmer is in the movie industry. This time in Be Cool, Chili Palmer finds success in the music industry.

One day Palmer goes to a nightclub and finds a very talented singer Linda Moon, played by Christina Milian. After the show, he talks to her and finds out that she has a long term contract with the dubious manager Nick, played by Harvey Keitel. Nick has a partner Raji, played by Vince Vaughn, a white guy who think he’s black. Raji has a gay bodyguard for Elliot, played by The Rock, who wants to be an actor.

Palmer thinks that he can be a manager for Moon and tries to make her a star by buying her out of her contract.

When Palmer speaks with Record Producer Tommy Athens, played by James Woods, the Russian mafia shows up and assassinates Athens, who owes money to a rival producer Sin LaSalle, played by Cedric the Entertainer. LaSalle has a skinny nephew named Dabu, played by Andre Benjamin of OutKast, and plenty of macho men under him. Now LaSalle wants his money back from Athen’s widow Edie, played by Uma Thurman. Palmer teams up with Edie to promote Moon and then finds himself in a war between Moon’s manager, the Russian mafia and the rival producer.

People who have seen the movie Pulp Fiction might enjoy another dance scene between John Travolta and Uma Thurman in this movie.

The characters are colorful. The Rock and Vince Vaughn are very funny. They are the main sources of laughter in this movie.

Danny DeVito who was in the movie Get Shorty is in this movie and is also one of the producers of this film.

In this movie you can see a lot of gorgeous cast members such as Andre Benjamin of OutKast, The Black Eyed Peas and Steven Tyler from the music industry. I think this movie is very interesting and am willing to watch it again.

I give this movie four stars.
