Holidays are not handled properly

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. Of course, I’m sure you didn’t travel far, unless you skipped class on Wednesday.

Who didn’t?

As I sat in my only class that was actually scheduled for the last Wednesday, I noticed that the campus was a ghost town, with even the squirrels packing up and heading on to the in-law’s tree.

Somehow UTM overlooked the fact that it might take more than one day to get to your grandmother’s house across the country in time for that world famous sweet potato casserole. This fine side item has been made a controlled substance in many states due to its addictive qualities.

Some of your SGA senators have proposed either extending fall break, or making Thanksgiving break an entire week. I support the latter. Fall break hardly has the same appeal of that week of fun in the sun in the spring.

My solution is to take the two days off for Fall Break and move them to the Tuesday and Wednesday of the week of Thanksgiving. The Monday can be an early Christmas present from Dr. Dunagan.

Just a suggestion from a road weary soul.
