Proud to be a Skyhawk

First off, let me extend my deepest apologies to the UTM cross country team. I didn’t receive the information and official stats on the tournament meet until after the print deadline last week. I had saved room to run the story and picture, but as it came closer and closer to 9:00 on Monday night, I had a decision to make, and I ran the story that I had information on.

I have been trying my best this year to give each sport equal coverage, but I’m finding out that that’s easier said that done. It’s actually quite a task to find all the information that I need regarding each sport.

I know, I know, that’s what I get paid the big bucks for, but when the information has never come across my desk and no one else knows where to get it, that’s when I find myself in trouble.

So, to all the coaches out there who would like more coverage for your team, PLEASE send me as much information as you have. You have no idea how much I would love to be able to cover different sports each week.

And to the members of the various teams, please do the same. If you want a story written about your acheivments, I would be more than happy to get it written. All I need is info.

On another topic, football is done on the UTM campus for the 2004 season, and I’m sad to see it go. I hate the fact that there were only four home games this year, but I’m really looking forward to next season when we have seven.

I’m going to miss my weekly chats with Dr. Coffey about who got served and who is more popular: Andre 3000 or Big Boi. I’m going to miss the free BBQ up in the press box. That free meal a week is something that this poor college student greatly looked forward to. More than anything, I will miss the game. I got excited every week about it, even if I had to speed all the way to Ind. to see it.
