SHAPE sponsors Sunset 4-Miler

This Monday, April 28, at the Martin Recreation Complex (on Highway 45 next to Westview High School), runners and walkers will take part in the Sunset 4-miler.

The Sunset 4-miler is a four-mile road race held by UTM's SHAPE club, a group primarily consisting of Health and Human Performance majors. All ages and abilities are invited to participate in this event, which is open to all, not just UTM students.

To take part in this event, come to the registration table at the park between 3:30 and 4:45 pm. The race will begin at 5:00 pm. The entry fee is a mere $5.

Awards will be presented after the race to the top male and female finishers and for the top three males and females in each of five age groups. Additional prizes will be given away in a drawing to finishers who did not receive awards.

The scenic racecourse follows the walking trail around the park lake and nearby country roads. Water stations will be set up along the course and UTM athletic trainers will be present, lending their service to runners and walkers in need. In addition to the Sunset 4-miler, a one-mile fun run for children 12 and under will start at 5:45 pm.

The one-mile fun run is free. So this Monday, take a study break to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. This event will be held rain or shine.
