Soccer players named to All-OVC team


Skyhawk senior soccer player Dani Myrick and sophomore Katie Berhens have both been named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team.

This is Myrick’s third consecutive year being named to the All-OVC team. She finished the year with eight goals and five assists. Myrick also leaves UTM as the leader in career goals scored with 35.

Behrens was named to the All-OVC team for the second consecutive year. She finishes the year with six goals.

Samford University’s Rebecca Bohler was named OVC Player of the year. Southeast Missouri’s Lindsey Pickering was named defensive player of the year and Rebekah Clay of Murray State collected the newcomer of the year honors.

Along with Bohler and Pickering the All-OVC first team was made up of Sarah Broadbent of Austin Peay, Lee Ann Lansfeld and Sharyne Connell of Eastern Illinois, Erin Hartman and Lisa Schweppe of Southeast Missouri, Laura Oppegard and Krista Llewellyn of Murray State, Heather Birdsell of Samford, Kelly Busch of Morehead State, and Joni Simmons of Tennessee Tech.

Joining Skyhawks Myrick and Behrens on the second team were goalkeeper Leslie King of Morehead, goalkeeper Christina Graul of Eastern Kentucky, defender Tara Tidwell of Austin Peay, defender Rebecca Mock of Samford, defender Sharon Young of Samford, midfielder Kim Matthews of Samford, midfielder Kathleen Hayes of Eastern Illinois, forward Rebekah Clay of Murray State and Ashley Beck of Austin Peay.
