Tennis splits road matches against Jacksonville University, North Florida


The Skyhawk women’s tennis team had one win and one loss to start off their spring break weekend.

UTM went 3-3 in the singles matches against Jacksonville University on Saturday, March, 12.

UTM won two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. This gave the Skyhawks the 4-3 win.

The men’s team won the doubles point, but was only able to win two of the six singles games. It was a close match for the men. They were only able to get three of the seven points available.

The women’s only loss of the year came Sunday, March 13, from No. 6 North Florida. UTM was not able to get a rally going to defeat the Osprey.

The University of North Florida’s men’s team proved to be an impressive opponent. UNF won all of the singles matches.

UTM’s men did win two of the three doubles matches. This gave UTM the only point of meeting. UNF pulled off the win with a score of 6-1.

Elizma Schoonees is UTM’s only undefeated player in singles and doubles. Sari Nortje is currently undefeated as a singles player.

Oltion Mollaymeri is undefeated in men’s doubles.

The Lady Skyhawks remain undefeated in their conference. They have a 5-1 record overall and 3-0 in their conference.

The men are 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the conference. They do, however, remain undefeated at home. There are four more home games for the men.
