Vin Diesel plays protector, babysitter in The Pacifier

Every job has its downfalls, but the way a person handles those downfalls is key simply because life is what you make of it.

Being a Navy Seal is an elite position which requires maximum attention and courage, but do you think that a Navy Seal would ever think that he would be watching over a house of five out of control children? That’s what makes the movie The Pacifier so interesting.

Shane Wolf, played by Vin Diesel, is a Navy Seal who has been assigned to stay in a house with five kids in order to protect them from outside forces while their mother is out of town. The reason he has to stay at this house is because their father was killed by forces outside of the United States for inventing a computer program called “Ghost” that interrupts the signal for weapons of mass destruction causing them to become useless. Because of this, many people are out to find that program, which puts the whole family at risk of being killed.

Wolf arrives at the house and realizes right from the beginning that the kids are wild and have absolutely no manners or disciplinary skills.

Through the eyes of Shane Wolf, everything is orderly and scheduled. He takes it upon himself to try to discipline the kids while their mother is gone, but in the beginning he has no idea what he is getting into.

At first, the kids wouldn’t listen at all but eventually they begin to see that he was only there to help them. Not only is he having to babysit, he is also having to keep his eye on every child constantly to protect them from being killed.

In the end, Wolf becomes very attached to the family and realizes that he wouldn’t mind having a family of his own, even though the military is all that he has ever known. Wolf saves the day and completes his job by retrieving the “Ghost” and protecting the family.

The cast includes Lauren Graham, Brittney Snow, Max Theriot, Morgan York and Carol Kane. The Pacifier was released on March 4, 2005 and is directed by Adam Shankman with Walt Disney Pictures. This movie was humorous, yet action filled and romantic all at the same time. If combination movies are what you like, then this is the movie for you.
